Tyres
Tread Pattern
Tread patterns must be clearly visible on your tyres and must have a depth of no less than 1mm across the tyre’s entire width.
Motorcycles Under 50cc
Motorcycles under 50cc must have a pattern visible on at least 80% of the tread width.
Sidewalls
Sidewalls must not have any deep cuts or show any visible inner cords.
State of Disrepair
No tyre must ever be in a state of disrepair, which could be a danger to all road users or cause damage to roads.
Motorcycles & Re-treaded Tyres
Motorcycles may not be fitted with re-treated tyres.
Buses, Minibuses & Midibuses
Buses, midi-buses and mini-buses operating with a licence issued by the Department of Transport must be fitted with commercial steel radial-ply tyres, and the steerable wheels must be fitted with anti-burst stabilizer devices.
