Crossing Roads Next to Traffic Lights
Where a pedestrian crossing is situated next to traffic lights, pedestrians must cross the crossing in accordance with the signals of the traffic lights.
Always Yield Right of Way
Drivers of vehicles must always yield right of way by slowing down or stopping for pedestrians who are on or about to enter a pedestrian crossing on the same side of the road as driver’s vehicle.
Pedestrians Crossing a Road
Pedestrians should always cross the road at a pedestrian crossing only, or at a distance of more than 50m from any such crossing. (If a pedestrian is within 50m of any pedestrian crossing, he or she must move towards the crossing and cross the road there.)
Cross When Safe to do so
A pedestrian should always be on the lookout for vehicles from both sides before crossing a pedestrian crossing. Do not cross when a vehicle is too close and may not be in a position to safely stop in time.
