What is Parking?
Parking is defined as stopping a vehicle for longer than is necessary to offload goods or passengers.
Where am I Allowed to Park?
Always ensure that you park within a demarcated parking bay. Never park on a side-walk or verge of the road.
Parking on Right Side of Road
You may only park on the right-hand side of a one-way road, on condition the outer edges of the right-side wheels are not more than 450mm into the roadway.
Exclusions to these Rules
Emergency vehicles, rescue vehicles, construction vehicles, police and traffic vehicles are not subjected to these rules if they use their vehicles in the course of their duties.

i. In any area where stopping is prohibited. |
ii. In a parking bay reserved for a specific class of vehicle, which you are not part of. |
iii. Where you could obscure any road sign or marking. |
iv. On any sidewalk or pavement, unless the vehicle is being used for business by an authorized peddler, street vendor or hawker. |
v. Across any private or public vehicle entrance. |
vi. On any road where the outer edges of the kerbside wheels more than 450mm into the roadway. |
vii. In an urban road that is less than 5.5m wide, unless it is a one-way road. |
viii. On a traffic island, or in a pedestrian mall or lane. |

You may not stop on a road, unless you are instructed to do so by a traffic or police officer, a road sign or marking or to avoid an accident or for any other reason beyond your control, such as your vehicle breaking down or doing so to ensure the safety of others.

ii. Inside a tunnel, subway or on a bridge. |
iii. On the right hand side of a road facing oncoming traffic. |
iv. Next to or opposite another vehicle where the road is less than 9m wide. |
v. Within a railway reserve at a level crossing. |
vi. On a Freeway. |
vii. On any painted island. |
Compulsary Stops
On Instruction
Where directed to do so by a traffic officer, road sign, traffic light or animal herdsman.
For Pedestrians
For pedestrians on, or about to enter a pedestrian crossing on your side of the road.
A Collision
In the event where you are involved in a collision.
