Abandoned Vehicles
Abandoned Vehicles will be Impounded
Abandoned vehicles on a public road or in a public place will be removed and impounded. The owner of the vehicle will be held responsible for all removal and impoundment costs, which will be increased every day the vehicle is impounded. The State may sell the vehicle to defray any costs incurred.
Vehicles Considered Abandoned
i. Any vehicle standing in such a way as to cause a danger or obstruction to other traffic.
ii. Any vehicle left for more than 24 hours in the same place on a non-urban public road.
iii. Any vehicle left in the same place for more than 7 days on a public urban road, or at a testing station.
iv. Any vehicle found on a public road without a number plate or with a false number plate.
v. Any vehicle parked in a no-parking or no-stopping area.
vi. Any vehicle that has no definite means of identifying the owner of the vehicle.
